Family
Just eight years into the 20th century, Henry Ford develops the first Model T automobile and the Chicago Cubs win their second, and also their last, World Series of the 20th century. A.J. (Andrew Jackson) Bush, along with his oldest sons Fred and Claude, start Bush Brothers & Company as a tomato cannery.

Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan of the Apes is published, and the Panama Canal opens after ten years of construction. World War I begins, and Bush Brothers & Company is canning at capacity with 85 percent of their tomatoes going to the war effort.

1922
The whimsical era of the roaring twenties has America wrapped up in prohibition, speakeasies and gangsters. In 1922, as King Tut's tomb is discovered and Washington D.C.'s Lincoln Memorial is dedicated, Bush Brothers takes a big step by becoming incorporated.

The rest of the 1920s was a time of expansion. Three plants were added.

1931
The Great Depression puts a stop to the roaring twenties and history's most famous gangster, Al Capone, is sentenced to 11 years in Alcatraz prison. "The Star Spangled Banner" becomes America's national anthem and Fred Bush, eldest son of founder A.J., becomes president of Bush Brothers.

1943
As World War II continues, the Tennessee Valley Authority seizes by eminent domain the plant at Oak Grove and floods all the Bush farmland.

1944
 
Allies invade Normandy on D-Day (June 6), and Bush purchases the Blytheville Canning Company in Blytheville, Arkansas.

1948
 
The war is over. As America enters the baby boom, all four sons and both sons-in-law of A.J. and Sarah are working in the family business. The Bush's Best brand is also developed.

1952
 
The Today Show premieres as television's first magazine-format program and Jonas Salk develops the first polio vaccine. Bush Brothers introduces a new product line of Other Varieties of Beans that becomes an immediate success.

1953
A year for great beginnings as TV Guide makes its debut, Dwight D. Eisenhower begins his presidency and Claude Bush develops Showboat Pork & Beans.

1955
 
Gunsmoke debuts on television and Bush Brothers develops canned, southern peas.

1963
Jay Bush
America mourns the loss of President John F. Kennedy, Beatle-mania sweeps the nation and Jay Bush is born.

1965
 
The first American troops are sent to Vietnam and movie theaters are alive with The Sound of Music. Claude becomes chairman of Bush Brothers & Company and C.J. Ethier, husband of A.J.'s daughter Lena Maye, is President and CEO.

1969
United States astronauts set foot on the moon, and the Woodstock music festival takes place in New York State. Another historic event takes place when Bush's decides to share the delicious flavor of their secret family recipe baked beans with the rest of the country by launching Bush's Original Baked Beans.

As the world of technology begins to advance at an amazing rate, Sony introduces the Walkman, the first portable stereo. C.J. Ethier becomes Chairman, and Condon, grandson of A.J. Bush, is elected President.

Ronald Wilson Reagan takes oath as the 40th President of the United States, and Bush's launches Baked Beans with Onions in the spring.

1984
 
The Cosby Show debuts on NBC as Bush's new Vegetarian Baked Beans recipe makes its debut on grocery store shelves.

1991
The Persian Gulf War ends. The composition of Bush's Board of Directors is changed to include a majority of outside directors, and Condon Bush becomes chairman.

1992
Johnny Carson retires as host of The Tonight Show, and Bush's corporate headquarters moves from Chestnut Hill to Knoxville, Tennessee. Jim Ethier, son of C. J. Ethier, becomes President and COO, and Bush's Chairman Condon is named CEO.

1993
Schindler's List drives millions to the box office. Bush's Baked Beans distribution expands into the Northeast, and Bush launches a new Baked Beans recipe...Homestyle. Also, Jay Bush becomes the spokesperson for Bush's Baked Beans, kicking off a regional ad campaign.

1994
 
Major league baseball goes on strike and Bush's Baked Beans distribution expands into the Northwest, making Bush's products available nationally, and the brand becomes America's number-one baked bean!

1995
 
Russian space station Mir greets its first American visitors. Jay's canine companion Duke makes his debut in the Bush's Secret Family Recipe commercial spot that wins a Gold Effie, one of the most prestigious awards in television advertising. Bush's Boston Recipe Baked Beans are introduced, available only in the New England market.

1996
Madeleine Albright is named America's first female secretary of state and Bush's launches a new brand, Bush's Chili Magic® Chili Starter.

1997
 
Titanic crashes into box offices, and Bush's also launches its Bold & Spicy recipe baked beans.

1999
As the world prepares for Y2K, Bush's launches a new Bush's Baked Beans recipe...Barbecue.

In March, Bush's launches Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans. In May, Bush's establishes an online community with the launch of www.bushbeans.com.

2001
Former Texas Governor George W. Bush becomes U.S. president, and Bush's Baked Beans introduces Country Style Baked Beans, proving the new prez isn't the only Bush with "Country Style."
